Pampa Economic Development Corp. Pampa, Tx. is located in the eastern Texas Panhandle with a population of approximately 18,000 people. We have over 300 days of sunshine per year with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Pampa is located in the wind corridor of the great plains with class 4 winds. Hwy's 60 and 70 intersects in Pampa and I-40 is just a few minutes to the south. Air transportation includes Pampa's Perry-Lefors General Aviation Airport and we are one hour from Amarillo's Rick Husband International Airport. We are also located on the main BNSF rail line between Chicago and Los Angeles . Pampa's economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas production, medical, retail and soon to be wind energy as well as other renewables. The Pampa EDC is working hard to grow our existing industry but also is committed to seeking additional diversification. Education is of the utmost importance to our community. Pampa High School has recently been expanded and remodeled. The 2010-2011 academic year was the first for the new Pampa Junior High. In addition, Clarendon College-Pampa Center just completed two new vocational buildings that were dedicated in March 2011. The Pampa EDC (Type B) contributed funds to the college for both the Wind Energy and EMT training programs. Pampa's educational future is very bright. Life is not all work and in Pampa citizens and visitors alike can find many social, volunteer and recreational activities to enjoy. Pampa offers many youth and adult sports activities, classic car events, three quality museums, first run movies and a new aquatic park. Hunting, fishing and birding are also favorite activities. Pampa is also a Certified Retirement Community with over fifty churches, a very active VFW and numerous social and civic organizations available.
