Fiber Glass Systems, LP of San Antonio together with Moore Development For Big Spring, Inc. announces a $2 million expansion at its Big Spring, Texas facility that will bring 25 or more new employees to the plant. Start up of the new second pipe production line will be in 2007.
Fiber Glass Systems, LP President Bill Burnett announced the expansion on Monday.
"We are pleased to announce the expansion of our facility," said Burnett. "The demand for fiber glass pipe is booming and West Texas is in the heart of the oil patch. We needed more manufacturing capacity to satisfy our customer demand."
Of the three possible sights manufacturing oil field pipe in the United States, the Big Spring location won out over San Antonio and Wichita, Kansas.
"We liked the work force and the management team in place, and we particularly liked how Moore Development For Big Spring, Inc. worked with us to locate the expansion here. Of the communities we looked at, the staff and directors of Moore Development really understood our manufacturing needs better than the rest, and they were able to expeditiously get this deal done," Burnett added.
Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas since 1980, Fiber Glass Systems, L.P. originally began operations in 1968 in Big Spring, Texas.
Mike Niklasch, Vice President of Moore Development and Chairman of the Business and Retention Committee said his committee was impressed with the operations of Fiber Glass’ Big Spring facility.
"After touring the facility and listening to Fiber Glass Systems description of their expansion plans, our committee felt that Big Spring, being where they started, is where they needed to expand. Due to the fact that they were only asking for a small incentive package compared to their total investment on this project, we felt this was a match."
The Big Spring operations currently have nearly 70 employees and 45,000 square feet of manufacturing. The facility produces 2" through 12" diameter pipe and exclusively manufactures all fittings used on oil field piping products. |
