Moore Development For Big Spring, Inc. and Solitaire Homes are pleased to announce the reopening of the Big Spring facility located at 3408 E. 11^th Place, Big Spring, Texas.

Construction has begun on a 30,625 square foot expansion which will allow them to increase production from previous levels.  Fourteen people have already been hired with plans to add another 8 to 10 employees within the next week slowly building up to the 175 employees needed by July or August of 2006.  This time period is dependent on the certification process with HUD.  Applications for employment will be taken at the Workforce Network of Big Spring located at 310 Owens.

The company is giving employment priority to those employees laid off due to the fire at the facility in the summer of 2002.  Two key personnel have been hired and they will be moving to Big Spring.

“Solitaire has indicated that demand in their industrial sector has increased steadily over the last few years to a point where they currently feel reopening the Big Spring facility makes economic sense.  Moore Development has maintained a positive relationship with Solitaire officials since the unfortunate fire.  There are those in our community that felt Moore Development should have been heavier handed in our dealings with the company – a sentiment that was wrong.  Solitaire is hiring individuals right now and by July or August they will be working up to 175 people – if they can find that many.  Our labor force is tight,” said Kent Sharp.

They estimate a target date for the first frame to go on line as early as May 2006.
